Ever used a sandbag when decorating?

I love this time of the year when friends and family come over the house. It's always fun to hear the different reactions to our collections, such as where on earth do you keep all this during the year (attics and climate controlled closets), how long have you been collecting or how just how many ornaments are on that tree?

It looks great when we're finished, but it's a long road getting there.

Someone helped me this year put a few things up and she was surprised at some of the things I did and used. That's when I decided this might make a good article. I'll have more to add as we go along, but here's my start of hints and tips used when decorating.
