Collecting Nativity Sets

Nothing is more fitting to collect for the Christmas season than the real reason the holiday is celebrated. There are as many different types Nativity sets as there are collectors. Pick a region of the world and there will a Nativity representing that area and culture of the people.

At one time a person could collect large figures from Woolworths for 99 cents each, those days are gone forever, today those same nativity figures are now sought after by collectors of vintage creches, they're not inexpensive any more.

Are you a creche collector or do you set up a nativity set every year? Tell us about it!

I’ve started collecting Nativity sets the last few years – I love the calming influence they bring among all the rest of the Christmas chaos!

I have a pretty Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus that I love. Its all carved out of one peice of wood, its beautiful. (And was $$ than we could afford at the time, but I had to have it!) For actual Nativity set I searched for years and couldn’t find just THE perfect one. I mentioned it to my mom and said I would love to find one like hers, the one she had put up since I was a baby… Well, I now proudly display her Nativity set in my house. :)
