It looks like it could be for a hanging lightbulb but where is the cord? The broom handle idea sounds good but I’d be afraid of poking or hooking something while I swept, ditto for Garden tools. Also 2 inches just doesn’t seem big enough as the width only appears to be about 30% of the length at best. It’s got to be for something about the size of a small thumb. Reminds me of the end of a bungee cord maybe it fits on a garden hose. But that would be inconvenient becasue you’d have to removie it before use. How about a cork puller :)

I’ve never seen one of these, but I did wonder why some broom handles have screw grooves on both ends. Makes sense now.

Agreed with some other comments that it is screwed onto broom handle and used to hang ornaments or lights in a tree??

(12) Sukhmandir Kaur says:

My next wild guess is that there is a second part not shown which screws in the other end over a fold of fabric or plastic and voila a tarp or drapery hanger.

(16) Joyce L. says:

don’t know what this is but…if I had one, I would cut holes on two sides of an empty plastic soda bottle, put in bird seed, screw it into this dodad and hang it from a tree branch.
