What are the Hot Collectibles in Your Area?
I think the busiest booth in the entire flea market was filled with Military Collectibles. Last week I received a great looking book from Krause Publications, Vietnam War Collectibles, so I asked about those. The dealer said he could barely keep anything in stock from the Vietnam war, it flies out of the booth. But that's not all the shoppers were checking out in the booth, they were looking at a lot of WWII pieces too.
Another dealer said it was MARBLES, MARBLES, MARBLES, the demand is huge. So how do you know what you're looking at? He said thorough research is the key to buying marbles. Costume Jewelry is also hot (I know I've been responsible for lots of vintage bracelets in the last few months), as well as paper advertising.
From the pure decorative standpoint, one dealer always has a several booths filled with shabby chic and vintage (not antique) furniture -- by mid-afternoon the majority of pieces have a sold sign on them.
What about your part of the world? If you're a dealer -- what's selling and what's not?
