Fabric Softener Sheets, Masking Tape and Febreze
Sunday March 2, 2008
What do all three of these have in common? They're items I use whenever I am unpacking boxes received or packing up boxes to ship! Why are these indispensable? Read on. . .
Masking Tape is a no-brainer. I always seem to be packing breakables to ship and found out that masking tape is the best tape to use when taping bubble wrap and other inside packing. Using regular shipping tape is 1) much more expensive and 2) very hard to take off. This is especially true when the items are not only breakable, but also extremely fragile. Some items I've received are taped so very securely that I am afraid of breaking them, just by taking off the tape. Of course regular shipping tape is used on the outside of the box.
Fabric Softener Sheets I really hate those styrofoam peanuts, popcorn, pellets -- whatever they're called. They stick to me and everything else. Take a fabric softener sheet, rub it over your hands and those styrofoam pieces will be easy to pick up without sticking to everything.
Febreze is perfect for those packages that reek of smoke when opened. I don't think most smokers are aware of how strong the odor is when a box is opened. Whenever I get a box like that, all packing supplies are immediately taken out to the trash and never used or recycled by me (to send other packages). Usually spraying Febreze on the items received will get quite a bit of the smoke smell out, especially when combined with airing outside.
